This is going to be really different type of blog. Just going to tell some things on my mind.
1. Upcoming fight cancelled
OOOOOOO Antonio Rogerio Nogueira….I understand man, I really understand but you are really going to deny some great MMA fans in Saint Louis. I was really looking forward to a very special fight for me and some of my friends and family.
2. MMA versus Boxing.
I hate this conversation. I just hate it. This is just absolutely stupid. Boxers say all the time “well, if I fought so and so in a boxing match, I would totally dominate.” Well so and so (the one usually brought up is Forrest Griffin and Hendo) isn’t a boxer. So try and keep that fight standing in an MMA fight. No offense boxing gangsters, your sport is dying if not already dead. So get over the fact that after Pacquiao-Mayweather, they may have a funeral for what’s left of your sport.
The fact is that MMA is no longer brawling, its very much the most technical sport on the planet where in the fact that you don’t go in with the ‘well, I am just going to knock him out game plan,’ you go in with the areas of what to attack where to attack and how to attack. And If you have a problem. I still have my deal up, you want a piece, come get a piece because as long as the ref allows me to dirty box a little, I will destroy any man who is put in front of me for as long as I want to. It doesn’t matter if you are roy jones jr. I will fight you and fight you hard.
3. The muay thai perceived advantage
Muay thai is not as deadly as it sounds. Every person who uses muay thai is known as a studly striker or is good in the clinch. Now as a fighter it is weird because as a boxing, kickboxing striker I actually have been told well dan better take this fight to the ground Joshua Clark clearly is the better striker than him. “Dan while having superior striking and a chin that rocky may envy is in trouble standing in this fight.” Was the exact quote. Mr. Clark, I know you read this. You are a hell of a fighter and I look forward to that rematch as long as you promise to not butt scoot that first round, Deal? Now for those who weren’t there for what turned out to be one of my most interesting and important victories. Early in the second round we started striking hardcore in what the announcer called, “This is by far the biggest showing of power speed and accuracy I have ever seen in two fighters at the same time.”
The fight continued and I am not going to lie, I was on clear street after a pretty good right hand by Joshua. Joshua put me in said muay thai clinch and kneed me in the face three straight times as the same guy said “It was only a matter of time before OOOOOOOO MY WORD ITS ALL OVER GREENWELL KNOCKS OUT CLARK WITH A HEAVY FRONT HAND HOOK.” The clinch actually was devastating but with regular striking it may have actually finished the fight where I actually found a way to recover and see the opening that was him dropping his hands after I pushed the clinch off.
That’s all I got, thank you for my five dollars ok later everybody!
